This trend is all about subtlety and classic high-end materials. Think marble countertops, hardwood floors, hand-crafted artisanal décor, and smart home technology that are devoid of gaudiness. The overall look manages to be sophisticated while still being welcoming. Often this trend incorporates neutral or muted colors, clean lines, and a less-is-more approach – though it should not be mistaken for minimalism. Where quiet luxury distinguishes itself is through the use of timeless high-end finishes that are meant to last beyond yearly trends.
Speaking of looks that go “beyond yearly trends” we are also seeing a surge of Timeless design elements. Timeless design is the ultimate anti-trend as it is meant to stand the test of time. Its surge is likely inspired by all of the recent period-piece dramas we’ve seen lately. It often includes rich natural wood, neutral colors, vintage furniture, millwork, as well as brass accent pieces. Timeless design brings a sense of history and elegance to a space.
On the other end of the design spectrum for 2024 is making bold statements with your space. This trend is derived from maximalism and is all about creating a home full of energy and character. Bold elements may include colorful wallpaper, statement tiles, statement rugs, color drenching, and bold lighting. However, it should not be confused with Maximalism which would likely include all of these things at once. This year's bold design will look less cluttered and more curated and organized than its predecessor, Maximalism.
